Surin Island National Marine Park a paradise of thick jungle, fine white sandy beaches crystal-clear waters, and the most extensive coral reefs in Thailand. It is also home of the Moken Sea Gypsies. It is famous for it’s gorgeous, diverse and prolific shallow-water corals, and popular with live-aboard diving tours. It’s an ideal place to go for people wanting to connect with nature. Pristine form and beautiful, escaping traditional touristy beaches.
The 5 islands,Koh Surin Nua, Koh Surin Tai, Koh Ri, Koh Kai and Koh Klang have beautiful coves, bays, dense jungle and covers an area of 135 sq. km of which 75% covers the sea area, and stretches to within 15km of the maritime border with neighbouring Myanmar (Burma).
Activities Surin Island s National Marine Park : Snorkeling, Hot Spring, Hiking, Bamboo rafting, Spa/Massage.
Attractions: Waterfalls, Dam/Lakes, Estuaries, Reefs, Temple Caves, National Parks, Islands, Elephants, Thai Boxing.
The area is also home to a number of tribes whose have for many generations made their living from the sea. A visit provides a genuine insight into a traditional lifestyle. Corals in this area are some of the richest in the entire kingdom and there are plenty of opportunities to see marine life such as turtles. The park has Thailand’s first underwater nature trail established to offer an insight into marine ecosystems.
The best time to visit the park is from December to March. There are several bungalows as well as camping facilities. As with all national Parks there is a entrance fee.
