Competent Crew Course / Ocean Hiker Course

Here we have a quite interesting approach of ex-cruising sailors who started a Yacht Charter Company on Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand. Based on the Competent Crew Course outline of the RYA this experienced cruising sailors added quite a few aspects of bluewater sailing and named it Ocean Hiker. The Ocean Hiker Course takes 7 days to complete and Island Cruises offers a 2 day offshore passage sailing experiance to the neighbor isalnd Koh Phangan. There is a s well an Internship possible which could strech the course up to two weeks or more. The students have during the Internship the chance to gain more sea time or sea miles by joining the regular Day Charter Trips of Sailing Thailand Island Cruises and can again collect first hand experience aboard a Sailing Yacht. So in the end the students getting a wall certificate and a Licence Card and the certified logged sea miles and are ready to crew on serious passages. On the back side of the licence card is as well automatically the membership number of the Tao Yacht Club. Over all a good price package for what you get.
