Save Koh Tao – Marine Conservation

Receiving now for quite a while the news letters of the Save Koh Tao Marine Conservation I have to admit that I am impressed by the continues action brought up mainly by volunteers to help in regards to environmental issues on the small Island Koh Tao in the Gulf Of Thailand.

In the  most recent cleanup held on the 31st of May about 85 volunteers collected over 952 kg of rubbish in various places, under water and ashore like Mae Haad, Sairee Beach, Japanese Garden, and Mango Bay.

Most impressive I thought was that the very same Volunteers took care of hazardous containers of Oil and Gas from the Island Dive Club Boat which sank a few weeks ago.  Comments are welcome here below this post or in our Forum.

So the Save Koh Tao Marine Conservation build up good reputation over the last years which is quite obvious prooven by the amount of followers as well as the balance of the donations towards it. At the moment there are more than 90.000 Thai Baht at their hands which make various projects possible.

Current projects are: Waste Management, Underwater Biorock, Ecological Monitoring Program, Mooring Boys, Photo contest and the Night Boat Salvage Project as well as regular cleanups.

If you are interessted in more stuff of the Save Koh Tao Marine Consevation please visit their Web Site http://www.marineconservationkohtao.com/  or join the Group on Face Book and help it this way to gain more awareness and popularity.

To be honest, I dunno we can trust these organizations. Money flows suspicious ways, volunteers from all over the planet, trying their best while the locals sitting around and taking the piss. It would be interesting how much the Thai locals actually contribute towards the up keeping of their own island. What I see with my pirate eyes is: ->Burmese migrants are working hard, western foreigners bringing a lot of KNOW HOW and a bunch of volunteers to receive finally a kick in the butt or out of the country and Thai locals cashing in without regarding anything, least their environment.

Now, please proof to me that I am wrong.

Cheers
